Program Mission

The mission of the Interior Design-Decoration Engineering Program is to provide high-quality technical education that integrates creative design, technical knowledge, digital technologies, and professional practice. The program prepares competent interior design-decoration technicians capable of developing functional and aesthetically appropriate interior environments, producing professional technical documentation, coordinating with the design and construction team, and responding effectively to the needs of the interior design and construction sectors in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.

Program Educational Objectives

Graduates of the Interior Design-Decoration Engineering Program are expected, within two to four years after graduation, to:

1. Practice competently as interior design-decoration technicians, developing design concepts and producing accurate technical documentation for residential and commercial projects.
2. Apply digital design technologies, including CAD, 3D modeling, BIM, rendering, and AI-assisted visualization tools, in professional practice.
3. Coordinate effectively with architects, engineers, contractors, and suppliers while recognizing the professional boundaries of the interior design-decoration technician.
4. Manage practical and financial aspects of interior fit-out projects, including material and furniture specification, cost estimating, Bills of Quantities, and basic project scheduling.
5. Demonstrate professional and ethical responsibility toward clients, colleagues, contractors, and the public.
6. Pursue continuous professional development by adopting emerging materials, software, and design technologies and progressing toward further study, specialized roles, supervisory responsibilities, or independent professional practice.
