The Department of Interior Design-Decoration Engineering (ID) is one of the engineering and applied-design departments of Kurdistan Technical Institute (KTI), operating under the scientific standards and licensing authority of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. The department maintains dedicated design studios, a computer-aided design laboratory and model-making facilities on the KTI main campus, and its students routinely produce residential and commercial design projects, technical drawing sets and physical/digital presentation models as part of their training.

The program leads to the Advanced Technical Diploma of Interior Design-Decoration Engineering. It is a full-time, conventional, self-governing program of two years\\\' minimum duration, organized as four semesters of sixteen weeks and totaling 120 ECTS. It is designed for students entering directly from high-school education who intend to work as interior design-decoration technicians. The graduate is a design and drafting practitioner who develops interior design concepts for residential and commercial spaces, produces accurate technical documentation, coordinates that documentation with a building\\\'s structural and service systems, selects appropriate finishing materials, furniture and lighting, prepares cost estimates and Bills of Quantities, and communicates design proposals professionally to clients and to the wider design and construction team.

The program deliberately does not train licensed architects or engineers; content that belongs to that level of professional responsibility — structural design, full mechanical/electrical/plumbing engineering, and legal certification of drawings — is outside its scope and is deferred to the appropriately licensed professional. The curriculum instead builds depth in the design, documentation and coordination tasks a graduate will actually perform in an interior design-decoration practice, a contracting or fit-out company, or an independent studio in Kurdistan or Iraq.
